Dear Parents,

We had a very creative class this morning…
While waiting for everyone to arrive, we colored spring mandalas. After warming up, I told the kids that we were going to ride our yoga bikes to a very beautiful garden and that they could decide what we would see there! We saw flowers (some had specific colors and some were specific names), bees, butterflies, snails, grass, rainbows (with pink and gold colors too of course!), carrots and ladybugs.
We sang our springtime garden song – where we plant our seeds, pop through the earth, wave in wind and smile at the sun.
During our dancing time, my phone played an April fool’s on me and skipped ahead to another song, which the kids thought was very funny 🙂

Relaxation time was very long and peaceful today. Everyone got a turn to have the singing bowl play a very special song just for them either on their belly or back. While waiting everyone else listened to how each special song was different and unique just like we are. I did one round and they all requested 2 more rounds!

We ended with „Peace begins with me“

Our tea time story was „Will you be my Friend“ about a bunny and bird who help each other out when bird’s nest is destroyed in a storm. We talked about how we can help each other and also share our snacks 😉

I have attached a photo of the beautiful sign that Jillian hung up -„Let’s grow“. It is great for spring time but also for the community of yogis both big and small that we are building at The Yoga Garden- growing together!

Easter holidays are quickly approaching. Please let us know if you plan on coming next weekend to class or not!

The Yoga Garden will be closed on Saturdays April 15th and 22nd.
There is Family Yoga class on Sunday April 23rd
We will resume our normal Saturday classes on the April 29th.

If we do not see you before the Easter holiday, we wish you and yours wonderful holidays!

Hope and Jillian

Dear Parents, (3-6 group)
Today was all about Springtime! We talked about how plants and flowers begin as seeds and what they need to grow roots and grow. In the photo are all of the beautiful seeds waiting for their sun and rain massages so that they can grow! We also talked about and became bugs and insects that we may see in our garden: bees, butterflies, spiders, snails and worms.

During relaxation time we listened to the story- „Rainbow Flower Garden“ (see attachment) and during tea time we listened to the story „Zinnia’s Flower Garden“.

Dear Parents, (6-10 group)

This week after our warm up, it was Yogi’s choice! I laid out some yoga cards that they could choose from for inspiration, but many of them also chose their own! Among the favorites were handstand (against the wall), tree, crow and shoulderstand. We also did the seated twist with varying difficulties. And we talked about stretching.
During relaxation time we listened to quiet music and the singing bowl was again requested to be played on the backs or stomachs.

Wishing you all a lovely week!

Hope and Jillian

Take a look at our beautiful 4 leaf clover circle 🙂

Dear Parents,

Saturday Kids Ages 6-10

It was so much fun to explore Valentine yoga with your kids! While waiting for everyone to arrive, we decorated Valeninte cards. We then passed around our heart pillow and gave it a hug while saying or thinking about what we love. After warming up with our sun salutation we explored heart opening poses including „bow“ and „shooting arrow“ poses. We also ran for a couple of minutes and then sat as still and quiet as possible, with our hand on our heart to feel how fast our hears our pumping. We talked about our hearts: how they function and what they do for our body. We then gave each other hand massages and as we relaxed in Savasana we listened to „The Love Balloon“ relaxation story.

Saturday Kids Ages 3-6

We had a great time during our Valentine themed yoga class! We each took a turn hugging the heart pillow and saying or thinking about what we love. After warming up we practiced some heart-opening yoga poses including „bow“ and „shooting arrow“ poses! We got our hearts pumping during our free dance and then we all sat as still and quiet as possible, with our hands on our heart to feel our hearts pumping. We also took turns massaging each other’s hands. And of course we made Valentines!

Wishing you all a wonderful week!

Hope and Jillian

Dear Parents,

It is a pleasure to practice Yoga with your Yogis on Saturday mornings. This past week we worked on the theme Shapes. We had lots of fun recognising the shapes, naming them in English and German and then turning our bodies into stars, hearts, circles, diamonds, triangles, rectangles and zig zags. I managed to catch a photo of our beautiful and shining group star shape 😉

During our warm up, we have been working really hard on our Sun Salutation – improving the poses every week. We practiced our breathing by taking turns with the Hoberman sphere; when it opens we breathe in and when it closes we breathe out. And everyone is getting really good at relaxing in Savasana at the end of class.

Have a great week!

NEXT FAMILY YOGA CLASS March 5TH 11:00-12:30

*ski season is here and some of our families are enjoying the slopes on Saturdays! Please let Hope or Jillian know if your child won’t be joining their class ahead of time. This will help us to better plan for the classes and perhaps holding 1 group class is an option at 11:15.

Dear Parents,

We had so much fun „making and baking“ Yoga cookies during our last yoga class!

We first had to make the dough- mixing and stirring it. We then took turns using a „roller“ to roll each other out. Then we got to pick out the shapes for our cookies and of course do the corresponding yoga pose!

We became shooting stars (warrior 2), pine trees (Tree pose with arms above head), snowmen (Squat pose with our arms circling our heads, hanging ornaments (handstand) and a group star in the second group!

After baking them in our ovens (Bridge or Wheel pose). We got to decorate them with icing and sprinkles. Everyone got a nice icing and sprinkle massage with whatever color icing they wanted 🙂

Wishing you all a great week and see you soon.

Warm Regards,

Family YogaClass Sunday January 8th 11:00-12:30

The class will be held in english and since Nuri Rodriguez is teaching there will definitely be singing and chanting involved 😉 Everyone is welcome! ALL GENERATIONS!

Our Family Yoga Classes are a regular event at the Yoga Garden and take place the first Sunday of every month. All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Price 15€

This past month we began The Yoga Garden’s „Pose of the Month“. Our pose for October was the Bridge. Our littlest Yogis did the pose and the parents ran a car over their bridge. We also experimented with the kids going under their parents bridges. Our 3-6 year olds practiced rolling a ball under their friend’s bridges. The older Yogis became drawbridges by lifting one leg at a time and they even created a hanging bridge along the wall where each kid got to go underneath. In each class we looked at a photo book with photos of all kinds of bridges throughout the world and picked out our favourites. We learned that Bridge pose is called Setu Bandha Sarvangasana in Sanskrit and that it can help us stretch our chest, neck and spine, calms our brain and helps reduce stress, improves digestion and can reduce anxiety, fatigue and headaches.

The pose for November will be Child’s Pose – picked by our Mommy and Me class. Stay tuned for photos and new, fun ways to do the pose!

Yoga in your school. Love these kids!!
